Follow Up Post ( PetiteFitness / RedditBuiltMyHotrod ) Following on my 6 week transformation... Since there'd been so much interest and questions on my previous post, I thought I'd share more about my journey. With each further week I felt stronger in both my body and mind, and I was in awe with how fast my body was changing. So much that I started thinking about fulfilling a dream I'd had since childhood. At 40 years old, I decided I wanted to do a bodybuilding competition. Back in the 80s and 90s, my Dad used to bring Muscle & Fitness magazines home, and I admired the incredible female athletes in them. They looked strong and fearless. I wanted to embody the same energy, as I was a small, timid, and rather sickly child, and I wasn't much healthier for most of my adult life up until that point either. My fitness journey was still in full swing when the pandemic hit, but I stayed the course. The training routine gave me a sense of stability in an unpredictable world. I found that learning to lift and fuel my body properly aided me in ways I didn't expect. Rather than being zapped for energy, I actually had more in reserve. My mental and emotional fortitude and confidence grew in leaps and bounds. I felt more in control of my life than ever. My coach never once left me in the lurch, she was there for me through the good, the bad, and the ugly. With her guidance, I was able to make my dream come true. I competed in a WNBF show and won 4th place in Masters Bikini! But the most memorable part of this whole journey happened the morning of my competition... As I was getting ready, someone knocked on the hotel room door. My amazing husband surprised me by flying my coach to Canada all the way from the UK! She was there in person to help me backstage with the final touches and watched me achieve my dream. She's now become a dear friend and mentor. In just under 2 years time, I went from being physically and mentally drained to being active, strong, and knowing I'm capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. At 42 I've created a life that I love, and it's only just the beginning. follow, post, follow post
