Where does water come from?

Where does water come from? ( worldbuilding / Adolf-Junior ) In my world(fantasy setting) - in the middle of a continent there stands a giant statue ontop of the highest mountain found at the centre of the continent. The statue is that of a woman made from stone with feet and hands made of ice. From the palms of the statue pure water flows down the mountain in different paths where it travels the entire content. No one knows the origin of the statue thus naturally it is hailed by majority as a goddess or a gift from their god/goddess. The statue remains unknown because the people found out that tempering with the statue or attempting to "pollute" the water within a certain range of the statue stops the water from flowing (civilizations have died out this way) And thus the statue remains "the source of water" throughout the continent with very little understanding of it where,does,water,come,from,where does water,come from
