Have another lump in groin - does this look like HS ( Hidradenitis / Dovahdanii ) Hey everyone, I’m a 22 year old female who since the age of 16 has been dealing with cysts / abscesses in my groin area and armpits - I have enquired with a few GPs about the possibility of HS but have been told I am just somebody who develops cysts more frequently than others. I have been referred to a dermatologist but have put this off due to embarrassment and financial difficulties. I would say I notice a lump in my groin once every month or two but they usually go away with hot compresses - there have been a few instances where these lumps have gotten worse. In 2018 I had an abscess in my groin that within 5 days grew to about the size of an elongated golf ball - I developed a fever and couldn’t walk by day 5 and went to the hospital where I was out on IV antibiotics and it ended up being surgically drained and cleaned out. The swab done for this abscess came back as positive for staph. I have since been to the ED twice for lumps in my arm pit which grew to the size of a grape - they were both so hard the doctor was unable to lance them and I was given antibiotics and they went away. I now have what the doctor described as a cyst on the other side of my groin. This lump has been there for around 2 months and has repeatedly become enlarged and inflamed, and then shrunk back down to the size of a kidney bean. This is the third time it’s become “inflamed” and it’s really sore and becoming painful to walk or wear underwear. I’ve seen two GPs about it who have told me it is just a cyst and it will go away, but it hasn’t. I’m really embarrassed about this and I want to avoid another big abscess that has to get surgically lanced and the scar I have is pretty significant from the previous one. I’ve taken a picture of this current lump I now have in my groin - it’s not a very good or flattering photo as it’s hard to get a picture of that spot - does this look like HS? Or just a cyst?
