Good day turned bad

Good day turned bad ( daddit / KC_Hindo ) So the new neighborhood park opens up this week and we've been there all weekend. We're there today playing, running around and on our 3rd hour there. Wife is at work and I'm there solo with my 4 year old Brooks and 3 year old Reese. It's getting time to wrap it up and I'm calling for Reese while I help Brooks across the monkey bars. She's running down the bridge and trips and goes head first into the steel poles that holds the structure up. I saw impact and was like "Oh Shit!!" Run over to her and see a gash to the forehead. No blood, then blood EVERYWHERE, just above the right eye. I'm on the second level and my car is 1/4 mile away. I wanted to panic so bad y'all, but I knew I had to own it and be the calming voice of reason. I grab her, run over to the party on the patio and ask for paper towels or napkins. Apply it to her head, pick both of them up and run to my car. Both of them are hysterical, thinking death is upon them both. The entire ride I assured them that they were ok and Dad was getting help for her. I get her to the hospital in about 15 minutes (I'll admit my driving was on the aggressive side, lol,) rush them in. Filling out the paperwork I couldn't even write, between the adrenaline and anxiety I was a mess, but I couldn't show it. We were in the waiting room for 2 and a half hours with my phone on no nap (At this point the bleeding had stopped.) It was an adventure for sure. I was super proud of my parental instincts, inside I was a mess, but outside I was cool as a cucumber. I dunno, I just wanted to share it with you guys, because when I was going thru it weirdly this community came to mind. I knew I had support, I knew most of you would have handled it the same way and that provided me a certain peace to get thru this. I don't have a large family and the last place I would go to about this is Facebook. So thank you and if you're ever in a similar situation, remember, you are their life and they depend on you. Chill, don't overreact, just react. Trust your instincts as great dads always. Rock on to all of you and have a great week. good, day, turned, bad, good day turned, bad
