Ballistic Injury ( NSFL__ / The_Widow_Minerva ) A 107mm rocket shell exploded about three feet from Airman Kolfage, who was thrown several feet in the air and landed against a wall of sandbags. Bilateral Thigh Injuries, Abdominal Wounds, Shrapnel in the Right Hand, and Facial Injuries, Guillotine Amputation at the Thigh While in Iraq and Subsequently Lost One Leg Above the Knee, the Other in a Hip Disarticulation, his Right Hand, and Part of his Face. Airman Brian Kolfage walked out of Walter Reed 11 months after being injured. To this day, he is still the most severely wounded Airman to survive any war. ballistic,injury,ballistic injury
